United Way of San Diego County, in partnership with United Ways of California, is proud to host the 2025 Real Cost Measure event, highlighting the groundbreaking report that reveals the sobering reality of what it truly takes for families to make ends meet in our community.

With rising costs, shrinking federal support, and systemic inequities pushing families into impossible choices, this year’s findings challenge us to move beyond outdated poverty measures and confront the growing divide between survival and stability.

United Way of San Diego County believes that change begins with uniting community members and changemakers for meaningful conversations. We invite you to join us on October 7th for an event that brings together policymakers, nonprofit partners, community leaders, advocates, and concerned residents who are committed to ensuring that all San Diegans can meet their basic needs and thrive.

What To Expect

This event will begin with a comprehensive report overview, offering an in-depth presentation of the 2025 findings from United Ways of California. You’ll also hear community voices, as local leaders share firsthand accounts of how rising costs are shaping the lives of San Diego families. The conversation continues with a panel discussion, featuring experts from housing, food security, and nonprofit sectors who will examine both the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead. Finally, we’ll highlight solutions and collective strategies designed to promote equity, stability, and opportunity for every San Diegan.
