United In Purpose

To Build A Stronger Community

Company Volunteer Information

Corporate Social Responsibility
United Way of San Diego County has long partnered with local companies on workplace giving campaigns, employee volunteerism, and other social purpose activities. A comprehensive CSR strategy provides businesses with an advantage in the talent war, giving young employees more power to engage with social issues and connect with changemakers and like-minded colleagues. It makes employee engagement dramatically easier, more efficient, and more effective. It helps companies streamline, modernize, and measure existing philanthropic programs while increasing retention and satisfaction among its workforce.

Our offerings include:

Traditional volunteerism
  • Days of Service
  • Group projects
  • Team building
Virtual volunteerism
  • Projects completed remotely and during “off-hours”
  • Safe and socially-distant opportunities to give back
Skills-based volunteering
  • Pro bono subject matter experts help nonprofits build capacity
Board service training and matching
  • Training program for corporate employees to become effective nonprofit board members
  • Matching services to help employees identify and connect with nonprofits aligned with their area of interest or in need of specific expertise

 United We Can

What We Do...

United Way of San Diego CountyOur success is measured by the lives we transform: the children who succeed, the families that thrive, the partners that align with us, leveraging resources and expertise to transform the lives of children, young adults, and families in our community and move them forward into a brighter future.

These stories are our commitment to the San Diego County and the challenges we face together: an intern watches a second-grader transform from missing school to setting an attendance record. A volunteer tax-preparer sees a struggling family transform from fearing tax day to looking forward to their EITC refund. A high school student transforms from a teenager with no aspirations into a young person with a future pipelined to a prospering local tech industry.

Change starts small, but UWSD’s goals are big and hopeful: from transforming hundreds of lives to hundreds of thousands of lives in our region.
